Gluten Free Apple, Date & Maple Porridge

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup gluten free rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 apple
  • 3 walnuts (6 halves)
  • 3 dates
  • 1 tsp maple syrup
  • 40g whey protein powder (optional)

Method

  • Prep Ingredients: Grate apple, chop dates and roughly chop walnuts
  • Combine oats, water, milk, apple, dates, walnuts (& protein if using) in a large bowl (to avoid any overflowing mishaps!);
  • Cook on high in the microwave for 5-6mins until it is thick and creamy.
  • Serve porridge in a bowl with a little extra cold milk if needed.
  • Top with maple syrup if you are using.

To cook on stovetop, combine oats, water, milk, apple, dates, walnuts (& protein if using) in a saucepan and simmer on low-medium heat for 5-10mins – stirring continuously to avoid any overflow or sticking!

 

* For Gluten Free, use gluten free oats or quinoa flakes.

*Can substitute milk for lactose free or plant based alternative.
